The Corresponding Options of TCP Variants for Fairness Problem in AD HOC Networks

چکیده
The ad hoc network is a continuously self-configuring and decentralized network where nodes communicate with each other without the fixed network infrastructure or centralized administration. TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) is a connection-oriented transport protocol that provides a reliable exchange of data streams. Implementation of TCP in wireless networks has many challenges such as the issues of the efficiency and TCP fairness problem. The fairness means that network nodes (users or applications) are receiving a fair share of overall resources. In this paper, we study the problem of maintaining the fairness for TCP connections in ad hoc networks. Our research has been made to present the TCP fairness problem in MANET (ad hoc mobile networks) while considering the sending and receiving of traffic. Achieving fairness in these networks is a challenge due to specific characteristics of an ad hoc environment and it is necessary to adapt TCP for ad hoc networks. The primary goal of this paper is to present fairness in ad hoc networks using combinations of different TCP variants and routing protocols. We evaluated the results of our research by using the proper simulation method. Index Terms — Ad hoc, MANET, VANET, TCP, fairness.

Improvement of the mechanism of congestion avoidance in mobile networks
Mobile ad hoc network congestion control is a significant problem. Standard mechanism for congestion control (TCP), the ability to run certain features of a wireless network, several mutations are not common. In particular, the enormous changes in the network topology and the joint nature of the wireless network. It also creates significant challenges in mobile ad hoc networks (MANET), density ...

The use of directional antennas in wireless ad hoc networks can significantly improve global performance due to a high spatial channel reuse. Nevertheless, its introduction poses new location dependent problems related to the MAC protocol. In this paper, the Balanced Incomplete Block Design theory has been exploited to develop a new MAC protocol for wireless ad hoc networks using directional ant...

Transmission control protocol (TCP) was originally designed for fixed networks to provide the reliability of the data delivery. The improvement of TCP performance was also achieved with different types of networks with introduction of new TCP variants. However, there are still many factors that affect performance of TCP. Mobility is one of the major affects on TCP performance in wireless networ...
متن کاملTransport Layer Fairness and Congestion Control in Wireless Ad Hoc Access Networks
Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is a reliable, end-to-end transport protocol, which is most widely used for data services and is very efficient for wired networks. However, experiments and research showed that TCP's congestion control algorithm performs very poorly over Wireless Ad Hoc Networks with degraded throughputs and severe unfairness among flows. This thesis studies fairness and thr...
متن کاملEnhanced Rate-based Transmission control for TCP in ad hoc Networks
This paper studies TCP performance over multi-hop wireless ad hoc networks that use the IEEE 802.11 protocol as the access method. The aim is to improve the TCP fairness while keeping the algorithm as simple as possible, since in previous works the algorithm designs were more complicated. We propose a simple approach to improve fairness based on scheduling (pacing) new packets according to the ...
